GEORGIA THE GREAT

Georgia, our state, of you I can sing,
I travel this state as the eagle moves his wing.
This is the land where our founders died,
I can believe they served with pride.

From every plateau and mountain side,
I remember those before us who died.
Our fathers made this land in Georgia free,
I thank those that were here before me.

I love the rolling lands, rocks and hills,
I thank God for in my heart there are thrills.
Georgia, the land I love,
As I do of my God above.

I hear the music as I feel the breeze,
I see God's movement in the trees.
Oh, how the mortals can walk and shake,
But this sweet Georgia air our lungs partake.

As we stand tall and sing a song,
Our life and this great sound shall prolong.
We want our state to always be bright,
We can walk with freedoms holy light.

God as the maker of our Great Georgia's land, I can sing,
I can truly thank our Maker, A Great God, Our King.

ROSE OF GEORGIA

In Georgia I found my Rose,
Like the sweetest flower that grows.
I could have searched everywhere,
And found no one that could compare.

My beautiful Rose of Georgia, my beautiful Rose,
The sweetest flower that grows.
I see her shine in the sunlight each day,
No other Rose could sway my way.

Her color brightens as day becomes light,
She rests with sweetness through the night.
Her fragrance could turn anyone's eye,
I'll love her till the day I die.

She is forever on my mind,
I can't wait until that time.
The day will come for my sake,
And she will let me take.

That gracious bloom from her beautiful Rose,
For in Georgia the sweetest flower grows.

For in Georgia the sweetest flower grows.

GEORGIA ON MY MIND

You have heard the song, I've Got Georgia On My Mind,
Now I would like for you to take the time.
To listen to the reasons why this is so true to date,
And take a trip with me across this great state.

From St. Mary's to Fairchild, from Satolah to Wildwood,
An adventure not to be forgotten where the old timers stood.
Travel the south and visit beaches open all year long,
Walk the shores, kick the sand, and enjoy a song.

View four states from the towers in Hiawassee,
Or study our Indian history at Calhoun, Cartersville, or Blakley.
Don't miss Chickamauga and Chattanooga's National Park,
See the wonders of Stone Mountain after dark.

Take your yacht and navigate the coastal waterways,
There's no better way to spend your days.
Savannah the oldest city with that special charm,
Walking those cobblestone streets will do no harm.

See the seven hills that support Rome,
Those wonderful people will make you feel at home.
See the wonderful sites at Golden Isles,
You will leave with a face full of smiles.

Oh, By the way, Georgia's peaches are the best,
That's why we say they are above the rest.
This is why we have Georgia on our Mind,
We want you to visit our state when you have the time.

GEORGIA SOLUTION

I've had my problems, large and small,
Time will not permit me to tell them all.
I'm going to tell you just a few,
Why, for me, this is not something new.

My old truck lost its power and wouldn't run,
Walking those gravel roads was no fun.
My horse fell dead and my mule went lame,
Down on the riverboat I lost ten cows in a poker game.

Then a tornado came on a hot summer day,
The wind was so strong it blew my house away.
Then there was an earthquake after the tornado had gone,
Swallowed up the land my house stood on.

As if this was not bad enough the stinking tax collector came around,
Would you believe, he charged me a tax for that hole in the ground.
There it was, a hole in the ground, as you could plainly see,
Was I discouraged, NO SIRREEE.

My wife got bit by a snake while chasing a mouse,
She had nowhere to go for there was no house.
The kids got the measles and the summer flu,
Now their friends had dwindled to a few.

I began to wonder what's happening to me.
I gathered the family together for a discussion to see.
What could be done about the misfortune we'd had,
I wanted to be sure the decision would make everyone glad.

We pondered our thoughts and said,
We gotta go or we'll all be dead.
We moved to Georgia and settled down.
Now we're loved by almost everyone in town.

GEORGIA MOON

This ole Georgia Moon is just hanging above,
Ole Moon send my Darling to love.
This ole Georgia Moon is looking bright,
You are bringing back memories tonight.

If this ole Georgia Moon could show and tell,
My life would be an open book as well.
Ole Moon you were there when I fell in love,
Just smiling and floating above.

The stars are shining bright,
Come out Ole Moon, send my Rose tonight.
This Ole Georgia Moon is not looking blue tonight,
I see the love on her face glowing bright.

When I asked my Rose to marry me,
You winked with smiling glee.
I'm sitting here tonight all alone,
Ole Moon, where have you gone.

The stars are shining bright,
Come out Ole Moon, send my Rose tonight.
This ole Georgia Moon is not looking blue tonight,
I see the love on her face glowing bright.

DAWG AND YELLOW JACKET

Now there was a feud going on down in that ole Georgia flat land,
Between an ole Georgia Bulldawg and a Yellow Jacket kicking up the sand.
The Yellow Jacket flew up in a tree,
While the Bulldog was on the ground scratching a flea.

The Yellow Jacket said, Dawg this is not your day,
Dawg said, Yeah, I'll bury you and your stinger in this ole Georgia clay. The Yellow Jacket said, I can fly around you any day of the week,
Ole Dawg said, you should be living with the meek.

The Yellow Jacket said, we swarm in droves,
Dawg said, you little wimp it shows.
The Yellow Jacket said, Dog you have an ugly face,
The Dog said, I can whip you any day without the mace.

Now the Yellow Jacket began to get a little hot,
Cause the Dawg was irritating and would leave not.
The Yellow Jacket said, Dawg why don't you go and play in the sand,
While I fly around looking at this beautiful Georgia land.

The Dawg said, Bee...your sting is not so bad,
Fly down here and I'll slap you glad.
The Yellow Jacket said, it appears we're going to have to settle this little fuss,
I'll figure a way for this to happen you ugly cuss.

The Dawg said, I have something in my mind,
We'll settle this in an hours' time.
You go find a long and wide field,
Then bring some of your buddies if you will.

I'll bring some of my buddies and cut the grass,
We'll line up in the middle of the field and see who will kick whose **%*%.

GEORGIA BLACKTOP

This ole Georgia Blacktop is hot today, listen to that rubber burn,
Gonna see my Rose tonight, can't take a wrong turn.
Taking these ole curves, grabbing second, then third, everyone is looking as I go by,
Gotta be on time or my Rose will cry.

Beware little animals that are crossing the road,
I'm in a hurry, carrying a light load.
I see the sun setting there in the West,
Gonna see my Rose tonight, gotta look my best.

Here comes another curve on this ole Georgia Blacktop,
Gotta slow down, gotta hurry, but I can' stop.
The sun is down, the shadows are gone,
I'm riding this ole Georgia Blacktop alone.

My Rose is looking for me tonight,
We're going to shine under the ole moonlight.
Now I see her standing there looking so lovely tonight,
My nerves are loose, my thoughts are tight.

Tonight I'm going to ask my Rose to marry me,
While we're watching that ole moon smiling with glee.
This ole Georgia Blacktop is hot tonight, listen to that rubber burn,
Gonna see my Rose tonight, can't take a wrong turn.

Gonna see my Rose tonight, can't take a wrong turn.

SHEPHERDS STAND

This ole Georgia sky is full of clouds today, they are moving to and fro,
The sheep are in the pasture under the Heavens that glow.
Listen to the wind with a whistling noise up and down, but not to deep,
As of the dream of the shepherds while herding their sheep.

Look, the clouds are moving faster there in the West and they are turning a deep red and gold,
The shepherds are moving their sheep to get all in fold.
I stand in awe as the shepherds hurry while a peep in the sky is blue and deep,
I see from their movement far beyond the hill as they herd their sheep.

Light begins to disappear, I see the stars as they begin to shine,
Night allows the shadows for tonight in Georgia I see Thine.
Then I hear the wind's evening whisper, Good Night and a restful sleep,
The shepherds look above, see the nights clouds, hears the wind whisper, then a good night to their sheep.

ATLANTA TOWN

This is Awesome, This is Great!
What have I found?...... UMMMM It's Atlanta Town..
There is baseball, basketball, football, midnight flings
This Atlanta Town has some cool things.

People a coming, people a going
The Falcons and Hawks are flying and showing.
If you want to have some fun when the sun goes down,
Take the time to come to this Atlanta Town

Where have I been all this time?
I could've been in Atlanta doing the shine. Planes roaring in the sky, cars a humming on the street,
The braves are chopping and the cops walking their beat.

Underground, on the streets, or in the air,
Atlanta is first class with a flair.
The Mayor greets you with a smile,
Always willing to go that extra mile.

People are nice.....Some roll them dice.
Hit the street...All is neat.
Uptown, downtown......What have I found?
The Braves are chopping...There ain't no stopping in this great Atlanta Town.

My friends are there, I am here,
Atlanta has again been chosen the Fun Town of the Year.
Roll on down the line,
Then take the time.

To see what I have found,
In this great Atlanta Town.
Entertaining is the past time of the day,
The best to see and hear, I'll say.

People are great, large, and small,
And this Atlanta Town Beats them all.
Hey look around and come with me,
Smell the fresh air, what do you see?

There is baseball, basketball, football, birds, airplanes, and cars,
Tall buildings, shops, food, wonderful people, and midnight bars.
Get down on them knees and look,
What we got here in this Atlanta Town is a story book.

Come on down to this Atlanta Town,
And enjoy what I have found.

GEORGIA WATERMELON

I'm just sitting here today eating on this ole Georgia watermelon, scratching around the rind,
The thoughts running through my head takes me back in time.
My Dad grew those large watermelons on the farm,
I've been told eating watermelons will keep you from certain harm.

As a lad I would go to town with my Dad to market his watermelons on Saturday,
I remember scampering around town trying to stay out of Dad's way.
Hey, the summers passed and Dad was always going to town in his wagon to market his watermelons on Saturday,
Sometimes I'd catch a ten cent movie to pass the time of day.

Then Dad was able to buy a truck,
And did he have a change in luck.
More watermelons went to town on Saturday,
Dad was always pleased when he tallied up his pay.

I remember my first date, it was a double,
All we did that night was eat watermelon and stay out of trouble.
Yes, those days of twenty five and fifty cents watermelons are no more,
Now you pick your watermelons out at the store.

Not many peddlers left selling in town or on the road,
The peddlers have changed to deliveries and go to the market and unload.
Watermelon is good for your spirit, mind and soul,
If they were not God would not have made them and you would not have been told.

ROLL DEM BONES

Hey now brother I am going to sing a song about those cities,
Now listen to the rhyming of those little sweeties.
These old cities are large, great and small,
Brother I wish I could tell you about them all.

Now New York has her lobsters, and Boston has dem belly beans,
Now I say New York is into lobsters, but for those cute little lassie's you gotta go down to New Orleans.
Chicago has her wind so strong,
Denver's is high up in da clouds and you can't stay long.

Roll dem bones brother, roll dem bones,
We gonna roll dem bones all day long.
We gonna roll em in da morning and we gonna roll em all night.
While dem ole cops are out of sight.

Houston is flat on da ground,
Where rolling dem bones can be found.
Atlanta is large and has it's great flight,
But we can roll dem bones there all night.

Biloxi's got dem gambling boats way too long,
But you can roll dem bones brother, all night long.
Little Rock is across the river and out of sight,
Rattle dem rocks brother, you can roll dem bones all day and night.

Roll dem bones brother, roll dem bones,
We gonna roll dem bones all day long.
We gonna roll em in da morning and we gonna roll all night,
While dem ole cops are out of sight.

Roll dem bones brother, roll dem bones,
We gonna roll dem bones all day long.
We gonna roll em in da morning, and we gonna roll all night,
While dem ole cops are out of sight.

Roll dem bones brother, roll dem bones,
We gonna roll dem bones, all day long.

KRIS AND ME

Down at the pond where the water is bright and deep,
Some fish are swimming around while others are asleep.
Through the woods and over the hills we walk and see,
That's the journey in Georgia for Kris and me.

The crows are flying and making their sounds,
The hawks are afraid of the crows making their rounds.
That's why everything is fascinating to see,
It's all here in Georgia to see for Kris and me.

When the fields are cut and clean,
We smell the fresh cut grass that's thick and green.
We walk the fields and dodge the honey bee,
That's the way it is in Georgia for Kris and me.

The sun shines over the horizon each day,
The birds soar through the air as in play.
This beauty to behold will forever be,
That's what we see in Georgia, just Kris and me.

In the fall the leaves begin to change colors before our eyes,
We gaze up above and smile at those beautiful Georgia skies.
Why it's there each day for others to see,
That's what we see in Georgia, just Kris and me.

THE WANDERER

The visions I saw cast spells on me,
The land of plenty is always there to see.
I have felt the trembles from afar and near,
The travels I've had kept me thinking of my Georgia dear.

I've been there and done that,
I've seen the places where great ones sat.
The tears no longer flow,
From my journeys that show.

I was a wanderer, I've traveled the land and the sea,
The moon shines on the water, the land couldn't hold me.

Now the brightness shines in my eyes,
For I am sitting here under these beautiful Georgia skies.
I am back in Georgia where I belong,
My journeys have kept me away too long.

I see the gleaming light shining through the pines,
My heart and mind are relaxed and no longer whines.
I smell the fragrance from the fields I used to roam,
I am now back in my Georgia home.

I was a wanderer, I've traveled the land and the sea,
The moon shines on the water, the land couldn't hold me.

GEORGIA GRANDMOTHER

Those sweet little Georgia Grandmothers are very nice folks, they beat all the mothers and aunts in Gods creation,
They'll let a little boy do as he likes for they don't worry about his education.
Those sweet little Georgia Grandmothers speak softly and let those boys have a good time,
Sometimes they whisper, this is true and look the other way when that boy wants to climb.

Those sweet little Georgia Grandmothers have muffins with tea, lots of goodies in the cellar,
They always know when it's time to make chicken pie for a fellow.
Now if the boy is a little bad now and then making a whole lot of noise,
That sweet little Georgia Grandmother whispers to Paw,...boys will be boys.

When the twilight time comes that sweet little Georgia Grandmother sings her hymns very low,
To herself, rocks by the fire, thinks about Heaven and when she must go.
When the time comes that boy will find a hot tear in his eye,
He will have finally realized all little sweet Grandmothers have to die.

MY GEORGIA GAL

When I crossed that Georgia State line, What did I see?
A pretty little Georgia girl with her eyes on me.
I said, hello Ma'am I'm a Mississippi man,
She smiled and took me by the hand.

She said, do you want to have some fun and get down?
Then let's go to that Atlanta Town.
Atlanta Town we did explore,
Back again to enjoy some more.

I made that Georgia gal my wife,
I have been a happy man all my life.
Children she gave me to enjoy,
Three young ladies and one big ole boy.

I'll always remember that moment when I crossed that Georgia state line,
I found my lifelong love and friend, I call mine.

FLYING FALCONS

When the Falcons go flying in,
We'll run and dodge and we gonna win.
Our dismal days are way behind,
Now, my friends it's our time.

There were times when we were way out of sight,
Now at the end of the tunnel we see the light.
Atlanta is a Party town,
We are tired of being pushed around.

From here on in my friend,
The Falcons are going to win.
We'll put on our gear and hold our heads up high,
We'll bust some butts and let em lie.

We see glory just ahead,
With a winner we shall wed.
We are as good as we think we are,
Now we're thinking we're the best by far.

We'll prepare with sweat and grime until we're ready to win,
The opponents will shake their heads and say, Where did we sin?
We have the talent and we will prepare,
The fact we can win makes us care.

So look you guys on the other side of the line,
When we run over you all you'll see is our behind.
Our coach is great, and never takes a rest,
This is the reason we're gonna whip the best.

A winning attitude is what we see,
As Falcons fly around above this ole Earth, glory to be.
We are the Atlanta Falcons and we are proud,
We are going to win and please the crowd.

GEORGIA RODEO

That cowgal of mine is waiting for me,
She rides like an Angel for all to see.
She's across the county ready to go,
With me to that Georgia Rodeo.

Ride them ole bulls boys, they're gonna be mean tonight.
The crowds will be cheering under the ole Georgia moonlight.
Now that cowgal of mine, so sweet is she,
Loves to watch those cowboys being bucked high as a tree.

I'm a Cowboy, whoopie tie yie yie yay,
Ride em high boys on that old Georgia Clay.
Whoopie tie yie yie yay,
Ride em high boys on that old Georgia Clay.

Those cowgals will run those barrels with grace,
Everyone will have a gleam on their face.
That ole Georgia moon gonna be shining bright,
While those broncs are bucking high in the night.

Watch those cowboys rope and wrestle those steers,
The action will be high as the dust clears.
Now my little Rose, that cowgal of mine, always tells me, Shucks Honey, you're looking good sitting on that bale of hay,
I always smile, give her a big kiss, and say.

I'm a cowboy, whoopie tie yie yie yay,
Ride em high boys on that ole Georgia Clay.
Whoopie tie yie yie yay,
Ride em high boys on that ole Georgia Clay.

THE OLD SONGS

I love the springtime in Georgia with those beautiful bright colorful flowers,
I stroll the land and enjoy the Spring showers.
I love those sweet smells of Spring that you cannot see,
Then the old songs come back to me.

I remember the old songs of my childhood,
Thinking of my favorite church back there in the wildwood.
The songs we would always sing,
The sweetest of the young voices would ring.

The old songs will forever be in my heart,
And I will always remember my humble beginnings from the start.
There were hearts touched with loving care,
Throughout the world God's love we can share.

Now my heart again rejoices,
From hearing Georgia's beautiful young voices.
As I stand tall looking out from Georgia's beautiful ocean Shore,
I know God will love me forever more.

The music sends chills through me,
The old songs lift my spirits so all can see.
I raise my head up toward those beautiful Georgia skies with a whispering prayer,
I can feel the vibrations of love in this wonderful Georgia air.

Now I believe those voices are singing as of old,

When a young heart rejoices, God's love will unfold.
Somewhere, sometimes I trust, I'll not be touched by pain at all,
After Spring, Summer will come here in Georgia, I'll sing those songs again, lest I fall.

THAT PLACE IN GEORGIA

When I think of someone like you,
Who is my best friend and true.
At times I would like to leave everything behind,
Follow my heart and find,

That wonderful place that's only known to my Creator alone.
I want That Place In Georgia just to call my own.
I know at this place in Georgia I'll find that perfect peace,
Where joys and celebrations will never cease.

I want to sit out beneath that friendly sky,
Just to let the rest of the world go by.
Then I would build that little nest by that Georgia stream,
Where I can watch the birds dream.

I know my plans shall be,
In that beautiful place in Georgia so I can see,
All of God's wonders below and above,
To have you is a treasure to love.

WHERE DO YOU STAND

Our forefathers and mothers lived and died for this great American land,
We can proudly lift ourselves up, test our values in freedom as we stand.
This land was established as one Nation under God to preserve our liberty and freedom on anointed soil,
These priceless rights were obtained with suffering, strife, and toil.

We stand proud to be an American and can confess,
All of our unalienable rights and freedoms we possess.
As an American we have embedded ourselves in one great state,
Be proud to be part of this for it could be your fate.

Stand tall American in the state you call your own,
Give thanks to your Creator for the seeds that have been sown.
You fellow Americans where do you stand?
Is it one for all, all for one in this great land?

We can travel this land from California to Maine and see,
The fate of man has rested on a higher power that will always be.
As one nation under God, we lift the spirits of each other from those who cared,
For our wants, desires, and dreams of our love ones can be shared.

Stand tall, be proud, take your rights and liberties as serious as you can,
Be proud to be an American standing on this anointed land.
Our forefathers have fought our battles and won them all,
Let's teach our future generations of their rights and freedoms or this nation will fall.

Let's teach our future generations of the rights and wrongs each day....
Then after we have passed through this life our children can proudly say.
I'm proud to be an American standing on this anointed soil,
My forefathers and mothers provided me this freedom with their sweat and toil.

They can proudly to others confess,
Of the liberties and freedoms they possess.
I know of no other nation on this earth that can be so proclaimed,
With the liberties and freedoms we Americans have obtained.

In a Nation where leaders work with an attitude that's contentious,
Fall by the wayside far from greatness that could be contagious.
Revolutionary we cannot afford to be,
Reparation among our fellow man we cannot flee.

All leaders must work together for one common goal,
To serve the people who pay for their ambitions in life and not be sold.
To every whim and far fetching thoughts that run through their mind,
Wounds heal along with forgiveness always comes with time.

Men and women don't always agree,
But by the Grace of God we live in the land of the free.
Turbulent times face us at inopportune times and sometimes we feel left behind,
But we can rise above each others faults through a higher power to make things fine.

We must live with and forgive those who disagree with us,
Calm your anger, refrain from criticism, and don't cuss.
Turn around, look at that person next to you into their eyes,
Now thank that higher power that allows you to do this without any ties.

Agree to disagree without anger, bitterness or resentment,
Let those you influence and work for enjoy some contentment.
Wisdom comes with experience and time,
Hail, Hail to America, all will be fine.

As it is been said, United We Stand, Divided We Fall,
America, the Great, the Proud, The Intelligent, the Weak, the Strong will from their adversities stand tall.
Our Nation must focus with ratiocination,
One for all, all for one, never in a state of stagnation.

Stand tall fellow Americans, and be proud,
God is watching just behind that cloud.
